Goals:
--Provide opportunities for communities to gain a better understanding of and access to hospice and palliative care and to become empowered to make informed choices.
--Promote the growth of a professional care-giving culture that embodies the principles of palliative care at the end of life.
--Develop initiatives and educate on public policy issues.
--Strengthen Idaho’s hospices and end-of-life network and increase the capacity to provide and promote palliative care at the end of life in communities throughout Idaho.
IdELC Membership
IdELC membership is open to all organizations and individuals without discrimination who are interested in the Vision, Mission, and Goals of IdELC.
Organization Members include hospices; local end-of-life coalitions; other statewide, regional, or local health and elder care and advocacy organizations; vendors to providers of services to Idahoans near the end of life; and other organizations with an interest in the work of IdELC. Individual members endorse the hospice concept and philosophy and are interested in promoting the goals and precepts of IdELC throughout Idaho. Administration
IdELC is governed by a volunteer Board and staffed by a half-time CEO. To promote greater communication between hospices, member hospices are divided into four regions, each with a representative. IdELC is a member of the Council of States of the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization, the Idaho Pain Initiative, the Comprehensive Cancer Alliance for Idaho, the Medical Assistance Advisory Committee of the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare, and the Idaho Nonprofit Center.
